Navisworks Manage to Include Powerful Cloud Collaboration Tools in June 2025

At Nziza Global, we always keep a close eye on changes across the technologies we supply, especially when those changes can directly impact how our clients work on a day-to-day basis.

Recently, we received an important update from Autodesk regarding Navisworks Manage that we believe is worth unpacking, because it’s not just an update, it’s a game-changer for anyone using Navisworks as part of their BIM coordination workflow.

What’s New? Autodesk Is Adding Cloud Collaboration Tools to Navisworks Manage

Starting June 7, 2025, all users with a Navisworks Manage standalone license will gain access to three powerful cloud tools from the Autodesk Construction Cloud, included at no additional cost: Model Coordination, Design Collaboration, and Autodesk Docs.

This is a big shift; especially for teams that previously relied only on desktop-based tools and manual file coordination.

How Navisworks Workflows Have Traditionally Worked

If you’ve been using Navisworks Manage for a while, you’ll know it’s been the go-to tool for federating models and performing clash detection locally. Typically, coordination would look something like this:

  • Designers and engineers create their models in Revit or AutoCAD.

  • Files are manually exported and shared via network drives or third-party platforms (sometimes with versioning issues).

  • The BIM Coordinator imports everything into Navisworks Manage for clash detection and coordination.

  • Reports are exported and sent back to design teams to resolve clashes.

While this method works, it’s also heavily dependent on good file management and communication between teams; and as many of us know, that’s often where coordination falls apart.

What Changes with This New Autodesk Update?

With access to Model Coordination, Design Collaboration, and Docs, you now have the option to bring your coordination workflows into the cloud, enabling real-time collaboration across the project team.

Here’s a breakdown of what each tool offers:

i. Model Coordination

Instead of relying on local files, Model Coordination pulls models directly from the cloud and automatically detects clashes; no need to manually aggregate files. It connects with: Autodesk Construction Cloud, Navisworks, Revit and AutoCAD.

This integration means clash issues can be identified and assigned to specific team members without jumping between tools. It streamlines the review process significantly.

ii. Design Collaboration

This tool enables teams to share, package, and review design data in a structured way. Think of it as a cloud-native version of file exchange, but with better version control, transparency, and accountability.

Design Collaboration is especially useful for multi-disciplinary teams working across different firms — everyone knows exactly what version is being used and what changes have been made.

iii. Autodesk Docs

This is the foundation of the entire ecosystem; a centralized, cloud-based document management platform. Docs ensures that all project documents (models, drawings, RFIs, submittals) are: Properly organized, Access-controlled, and Linked to live project data.

Why This Matters to You, if Nziza Global is your Autodesk Reseller in Tanzania, Rwanda and beyond.

From our perspective at Nziza Global, this move by Autodesk reflects a broader industry trend: the shift from desktop-based tools to connected, cloud-enabled platforms. For your teams, this means:

  • Fewer coordination errors due to outdated files

  • Faster clash detection and resolution

  • Improved collaboration across disciplines and teams

  • More value from your existing Navisworks Manage license

Whether you’re a BIM Manager, Project Engineer, or Construction Coordinator, these tools can remove bottlenecks and help you stay ahead of schedule.

How to Get Started

If you already have a Navisworks Manage license, these cloud tools will be available starting June 7, 2025; and there’s nothing extra you need to pay.

However, you will need to set up access to Autodesk Construction Cloud (if you haven’t already), and that’s where Nziza Global can help. We can walk you through: Setting up your Autodesk Docs environment, Onboarding your team to Model Coordination, and Creating streamlined workflows for Design Collaboration.

This is a smart move by Autodesk, and one that we at Nziza Global fully support. As your trusted partner for digital construction tools and workflows, we’re here to help you make the most of these new capabilities.
