Rwanda Transport Development Agency, Trained 30 Engineers in Bridge Design

Reflect on the successful completion of a comprehensive training program delivered in the end of 2023 in partnership with MIDAS India to the Rwanda Transport Development Agency (RTDA) from October 16th to 18th, 2023. Participants have successfully applied the knowledge acquired during the training in diverse projects, making substantial contributions to the enhancement of bridge engineering capabilities within the Rwanda Transport Development Agency.

Recognizing that training is an ongoing process, rather than a one-time event, we eagerly anticipate a sustained partnership. This collaboration aims to consistently upskill RTDA teams, fostering continuous improvement for the betterment of horizontal infrastructure in Rwanda. Over the course of more than three days of training, participants were introduced to a range of transformative topics. These included 3D box culvert design, with a focus on modeling, loading, analysis, and the design of culvert bridges, as well as an in-depth exploration of generating design calculation reports. The training also covered reinforced concrete beam and slab bridges, providing foundational knowledge in modeling, analysis, and design, along with practical insights into the generation of design calculation reports. Additionally, participants gained experience in modeling, analysis, and design through sessions focused on steel composite bridges with foundations, including hands-on practice in design calculation report creation.
